HAVING BREAKFAST WITH Jax Vaughn isn’t as uncomfortable as I expected it to be, but it isn’t exactly an easy experience either.

I sit in a white bathrobe on the other side of the table like some pure little bird after I basically took him in all my holes not half an hour ago. Just looking at myself reflected in the window with the towel wrapped into a turban on top of my head, my face all clean save for the bruises on my lips, it could fool anyone that I’m indeed the ‘little angel’ he keeps talking about.

Jax is all clean and polished and ready to take on the world in an expensive black suit that hugs his broad shoulders but tapers down to his waist, a Rolex glinting around his wrist. His rich brown hair is still wet, styled into ruffled spikes, his eyes occasionally catching mine between bites.

I avoid his gaze as much as I can, chasing the scrambled eggs and salad on my plate with my fork, but then Jax sets his cutlery down and dabs that sensual mouth of his with the napkin.

“Speak.”

I look up slowly, preparing myself to hold his gaze, and reply,

“I know the contract says sex, sex, sex, but I’m afraid that’s not gonna work for me. Physically not. I mean–” I’m so sore inside it’s an effort to even sit in this chair, but judging by his emerald eyes dipping to my bruised lips, he gets it. “It’s too much for me, I’ll need more time to recover.”

He leans back with a deep breath, his shirt stretching over his perfectly muscled chest. That chest that I hungrily traced with my hands. My eyes fall to the tattoo coiling around his neck, like a leash he chose to have inked into his skin to keep the natural destructive force inside him in check.

When my eyes finally meet his, I know I’m not wrong.

“What are you willing to trade for that?” he asks.

“Excuse me?”

He sips from his coffee, then sets it back down onto the saucer with the elegance of a hitman.

“You signed for as much sex as I want. If you give less, then we’ll have to revisit that clause, and you’ll have to compensate with something else.”

“Really?” My eyes blaze at him, but he remains unfazed. He just stares at me without blinking, those emerald eyes emitting a disturbing glint. It’s bewitching. Irresistible.

“Anything you want, sexually,” I say. “Any kink. Anything that won’t, you know, kill me. Or you,” I add quickly. I know the bastard well enough by now to expect self-harming fantasies from him. His eyes scream psycho. The kind of psycho that men cower from, and women come for.

My psycho.

The sudden feeling of possession squeezes my heart, and I know I have to snap out of it, or pay with my heart. Jax Vaughn is never going to be mine. This isn’t a romance.

“There are other things I want from you but sex. I want your secrets.” He sets
